      Frequently Asked Questions

A TMT or Treadmill Test is a non-invasive diagnostic test that evaluates the heart's response to physical activity. It involves walking on a treadmill while the heart is monitored with an ECG machine to assess heart function during exercise.
A TMT test is performed to diagnose and evaluate coronary artery disease, heart valve problems, and other heart conditions. It helps assess the heart's response to physical activity and detect any abnormalities that may not be detected during a resting ECG.
During a TMT test, the patient walks on a treadmill while the heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are monitored. The speed and incline of the treadmill are gradually increased, causing the heart to work harder. The test is stopped if the patient experiences chest pain, abnormal heart rhythms, or other symptoms.
Yes, a TMT test is considered a safe and non-invasive test. However, as with any exercise test, there is a slight risk of complications such as chest pain, abnormal heart rhythms, and low blood pressure. Hence, an expert and trained cardiologist is always present during the test to assess them.
The test usually takes 10-15 minutes, and you can get the provisional results immediately after the test (verbally). All the reports are ready by the end of the day i.e. for tests done till the afternoon, reports are prepared by 5 pm or by the next day. If you need the report urgently, please place a request with the reception staff, they will get the type and print the report within 5-10 minutes.
